Sitting Pretty in Garden City 2026

The 23rd International Convention of The Wodehouse Society

What ho! What ho! What ho!

It is our pleasure to announce that members of The Wodehouse Society will gather together for our next convention on November 5–8, 2026, at the Garden City Hotel on Long Island, New York—an area that has many Wodehouse connections. Think Bellport, where Plum and his wife, Ethel, began their married life together (Bellport became Brookport in Uneasy Money); Great Neck, where they lived off and on from 1918 to 1921, and where Plum played golf at the course that was one of the models for the Oldest Member’s club; and Easthampton, where he lived during the summer of 1923 and, while there, heard the story that gave him the idea for the musical ‘Oh, Kay!’.

And, of course, just about 55 miles to the east of Garden City lies Remsenburg, where Plum and his wife, Ethel, once lived and are buried. Needless to say, a pilgrimage to Remsenburg will be one of many highlights of our convention.

Garden City is also close to New York City, which Wodehouse first visited in 1904; like Remsenburg, the city is a mecca for Wodehousean visitors. The Garden City Hotel is conveniently located for convention travelers: only 13 miles from JFK Airport, 18 miles from LaGuardia, and directly across the street from a Long Island Railroad station (approximately 45 minutes to Penn Station). A short walk from the hotel brings you to a shopping district replete with stores and restaurants.

It is an ideal location for what will be a binge for the ages! Mark your calendars now, and keep monitoring this page for updates on the convention hotel and activities, as well as information on how to register. If you have questions now, write to twsli2026@gmail.com.
