The death of TWS’s founder, Bill Blood, on October 7, 1991, cast a shadow over our sixth convention,  held just a few days later. Nevertheless, the Big Apple convocation cemented the move to hotels as the preferred venue for our gatherings. It was the first to introduce extracurricular activities, in this case a bus pilgrimage to Remsenburg and, with the kind permission of its current owner at the time, a tour of the Wodehouses’ former home. It was also the first to have an original skit as part of the program—two, in fact, both written by Norman Murphy, with one performed during the Saturday talks, the other produced impetuously at the banquet. The weekend was marked by excellent talks and much jollity that included singalong sessions. Not long after this binge, new chapters started to spring up.
